2 Reasons to Claim Social Security at 67

Published August 19, 2026 · Category: Finance

Overview

In the context of Social Security, age 67 is pretty significant. At 67, people born in 1960 or later reach full retirement age. This means that if you file for Social Security at 67, your monthly benefits won't be reduced.

Of course, 67 isn't the latest age to sign up for Social Security. For each year you delay your claim past age 67, your benefits get a permanent 8% boost.
