Why ASML Stock Is Falling Today
ASML shares dropped 6.2% Monday morning after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and other AI leaders called for slowing frontier-model development.
ASML Holding(NASDAQ: ASML) stock fell on Monday after leading AI executives from around the industry called for slowing the development of its most advanced models. As of 2:29 p.m. ET on Sept. 14, 2026, ASML shares were down 6.2%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively.
The CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, called for a slowdown in the development of AI in an essay posted to X. He laid out his concerns over the rapid pace of the advanced technology, saying the industry must collaborate to ensure that its capabilities don't run ahead of our ability to understand and control it.
