Rocket Lab's Backlog Just Hit $2.4 Billion. Here's Why Neutron's First Flight Matters More.
Rocket Lab's future is riding on Neutron's success.
Rocket Lab's (NASDAQ: RKLB) recently released second-quarter results revealed that the company has $2.36 billion in contract backlogs. But some of that potential revenue, and it's only potential right now, is dependent on the successful flight of the company's all-important Neutron rocket.
Management has said that Neutron is expected to be on the launchpad in the fourth quarter after two years of delays. But any further delays will stifle Rocket Lab's ability to convert its contract backlogs into revenue.
