3 Reasons Not to Downsize in Retirement
Don't assume it makes sense to move to a smaller home.
Overview
There are certain changes I'm planning to make in retirement that I'm pretty excited about. For one thing, I'm looking to ditch the Garden State and move someplace where property and income taxes are much lower than New Jersey's (which shouldn't be too hard to do, given how costly it is to live here).
Another thing I'm planning to do is downsize to a smaller home. I don't feel the need to pay for a larger space at that stage of life, and I certainly don't want to commit to the work involved in maintaining one.
